Thank you!

Dearest Stake Choir-
You are all amazing for your dedication to choir. Thank you for singing. Thank you for being a part of the Music Festival. Thank you for inviting your friends. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for doing the same parts again, and again, and again. Thank you for always coming back for more. Thanks for volunteering others to sing solos and then supporting them :) (Thanks Jonathan for singing that solo!!) I had a great time tonight at the Festival, and think it's so fun to direct our choir. I get to look at your faces when you sing, and see your expressions of faith and hard work :)
I'll see you Sunday for our last HURRAH before Stake Conference in the new year. I have music for "This is the Christ" and would love to actually sing it this time :) Let me know if you have a preference for something!!
All the best,
Jessica

Creche Festival Practices & "What is the Creche Festival?"

The Creche & Music Festival is a huge event put on by our stake and the community. This is its tenth year, and entails lots of Christmas activities pointing towards the purpose of the season: Christ.

When: Dec 3,4,5th (Fri, Sat, Sun)
When: 3pm to 8pm each day
Here's what happens there:
  • CReche exhibit: the entire gym is set up with beautiful lights/tree decorations and tons of decroated tables to display the hundreds of "borrowed" nativity scenes from all over the world.
  • An art room is also set up displaying art depicting scenes of Christ or his birth
  • A children's room is set up with a place for kids to make a nativity craft and a huge manger where people of all ages can dress up and get their picture taken for free.
  • MUSIC: Live music is played by groups from all over the community every day, and on Saturday night there is a special community concert featuring a few larger choirs that combine at the end to sing "O Holy Night" and the Hallelujah Chorus. The stake choir practices twice in preparation for singing on that Saturday night in the community concert as well as Sunday night before the Christmas broadcast.
  • It's important that every member of the stake personally invite friends and neighbors to come enjoy the spirit of the event. There is no missionary proselyting there- just invitations made by stake members.
 CRECHE CHOIR PRACTICES:

Sunday November 13th 6pm
Sunday November 20th 6pm
WARM UP Saturday Dec. 3rd at 6pm
PERFORM Saturday Dec. 3rd at 7pm
PERFORM Sunday Dec. 4th at 6pm (Christmas broadcast begins at 7pm)

Please take a look at the following music BEFORE the practices so that
we will have more time to go over their neat effects rather than going over notes
(but don't be scared- we do have to go over notes sometimes too!)
  1. Hymn 205 "Once in Royal David's City"
  2. The Hallelujah Chorus (Download) (And if you have the book version, bring it!)
  3. O Holy Night (Download)
  4. While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night (Download)
  5. The First Noel (is available at the stake center in the binders only)

Welcome to Choir

I'm so glad you've decided to join us!  ALL voices are invited to sing, no matter your ability, age, or experience.

Knowing that everyone is busy, the music chosen is usually from a public domain (meaning it's available to all and legal to copy) which means we have FEWER practices than most choirs, but get right to business at each practice.

PLEASE look at your part before coming! Even if you don't have a way to print it, you can look at it online!
Practice starts right on time, so please be punctual.

Bring a friend with you and come enjoy the spirit of music!
See you there,
Jessica Loehrmann
